What is Driver CPC Training?

Driver CPC Training is a new driver standard being adopted by all EU States under the Directive 2003/59/EC.

Who will Driver CPC apply to?

Existing Drivers

  • It will apply to all existing (Full Licence Holders) professional drivers of buses over 8 seats, starting September 2008.
  • It will apply to all existing (Full Licence Holders) professional drivers of vans/trucks starting September 2009.
  • It is now compulsory on all drivers to complete a set of 5 modules over a 5 year cycle. These modules are set by the RSA and must be completed on a one day per year basis (7 hours each day)
  • New Drivers: (courses not yet available for new drivers)
  • Buses: After 10th September 2008:
  • Trucks: After 10th September 2009:
    • a two hour multiple choice theory test
    • a two hour case study theory test
    • a 90 minute driving test
    • a 30 minute practical test.

The Irish Risk Management Centre, Embassy Office Park, is on the M7 opposite the Goffs Bloodstock Sales Complex. Take Exit 8 and follow inner road to Kill Village. (2 mins. from exit 8 on the right).

The Irish Risk Management Centre is approved by the Road Safety Authority (RSA).
