No images? Click here Happy New Year to you from all at J.F.Dunne Insurances. Whereas we knew that the start of 2021 was, in all likelihood, going to result in a lock-down following the Christmas seasonal movement, it has come as quite a shock the level of infection rate that we have seen over the past 3 weeks. As a result of these infection rates, it would appear that Government will delay the opening of the schools for a period, unknown yet as to whether it will be 2, 3, 4 weeks or longer, if there will be staggered returns, changes in terms, further shutdowns later in the year, all of this is unknown to us at present. However, it does not stop us from preparing for probable outcomes. As we had advised and actioned for you last year, we will suspend cover on your vehicles upon written request from you, to our email insure@jfd.ie. There are two options for suspension:
Due to the fluid nature of these closures, we have agreed with your insurer that the suspension days will be accumulated on your policy and any credits due will be calculated at renewal at which point you can apply the credit to your renewal or receive a rebate for the amount due back. Any credits calculated are based on a pro-rata of the motor premium for standard suspension and the rebate is 80% of the motor premium where Fire & Theft cover is maintained. HOW TO SUSPEND COVER Email us at insure@jfd.ie, state the registration number of any vehicle that you require suspended, the date cover is to be suspended from, and advising if Fire & Theft cover is to be held. Please note that cover can only be suspended with effect from the Government notified shutdown of the schools (January 6th) and that we will not be able to backdate any suspension of cover. You will need to ensure that you email on or before the date that you require your insurance suspended. RENEWALS We will be continuing to provide you with the option of renewing your vehicles on an Accidental Damage, Fire & Theft basis whilst the Coronavirus restrictions are in place. This again allows you to keep protecting your business and your vehicles without any road or passenger risk covers in place, thus reducing your insurance outlay until such time as you require your vehicles back on the road. The resumption of full cover is charged on a pro-rata basis at the point that cover is reinstated. Please click here to download all terms and conditions applicable to renewing on an ADF&T Basis We are receiving many queries on premium financing issues. Our sister company, Parliament Premium Finance, is rescheduling and refinancing loans for many of our clients, you will know the team there and you just need to email them, insure@jfd.ie, with any query or concern that you have. They can also help where there is another finance house involved but these finance houses are much larger and negotiations take quite some time especially where they have entrenched terms and conditions around forbearance, with little or no understanding of the present difficulties bus, coach, and passenger transport operators are experiencing. We are presently investigating how best to protect your interests where these finance houses apply rulings that may impact the very future of some of our clients. The global application of rulings that these finance houses apply do not meet the requirements of some of our clients and we will act immediately to protect your interests where you are issued with a final demand. If you are facing the cancellation of your insurance contracts by these finance houses you should immediately email us with the full details to insure@jfd.ie, we can only act where a final notice has issued from these finance houses. In this time of little or no income the last thing you want from us is your renewal notice! To explain, there is a legal requirement on us to issue renewal notices for your insurance contracts, the rules and regulations around renewal of contracts of insurance still apply and we and you must comply with these, please therefore know too that these rules and regulations insist that renewal notices are issued in good time to allow you to seek alternative quotations and whereas we would hope that you will find our quotation the most competitive we do need to remind you that it is business as usual in this respect also! There are options here too, if you have any queries or concern in regard to the renewal of your insurance please do not hesitate to contact us, email us on insure@jfd.ie. Our bus and coach clients have the unique option to perform certain actions and give us instructions on this email 24 hours a day. FOTO/ibus plcIf you have any industry issues or just need to chat, you can email John privately on info@ibus.ie We are continuing to engage with various Government Ministers and departments around issues that are important to you, around Covid-19, contracts, driver and vehicle age restrictions and so on. These letters and other industry news are on view here. For now we hope this email helps to re-assure you of our commitment to you and that we place your protection at the foremost of our actions here at J.F.Dunne Insurances. We will overcome this virus if we look after each other. We are here, and we will continue to be here, throughout this challenging time, to look after your best interests.
